Statement on Compatibility and Market Description for DLC™ Connections

Purpose
This page states only what Valora Engineering Ltd. (“Valora”) claims about the DLC™ drill pipe connection and how Valora uses third-party names for identification. It is intended to prevent confusion in the marketplace and to standardize Valora’s messaging. Valora may revise this statement from time to time to reflect updates to products, documentation, or marketplace usage. The “Last updated” date reflects the most recent revision.
How Valora describes DLC™ compatibility:
To keep language clear and consistent Valora uses the following wording:
- “DLC™ [size/design] is compatible with Delta™ [size/design]”
- “DLC™ [size/design] makes up to Delta™ [size/design]”
What Valora means by “compatible”:
Valora may, in limited circumstances, state that DLC™ is compatible with Delta™. When Valora uses the word “compatible” Valora means that for the specific DLC™ sizes that Valora identifies, DLC™ connections are intended to make up to (mate with) the corresponding Delta™ connections using standard field practices and equipment (ie. – a DLC™ pin may be made up to a Delta™ box and/or a DLC™ box may be made up to a Delta™ pin). This means a mixed drill string may be assembled subject to acceptable condition, inspection, and handling requirements, noting that DLC™ documentation applies to DLC™ connections only and does not provide requirements for non-DLC™ connections.
Valora may reference testing on specified size pairings to establish compatibility as determined solely by Valora’s engineering standards. This is not intended as a claim about the performance, engineering, design, inspections criteria, repair limits, or usage of any connection other than DLC™.
What Valora is NOT claiming:
To prevent confusion in the marketplace, Valora does not claim that DLC™ is:
- a copy, clone, or replica of Delta™.
- identical to Delta™ in design, thread form, metallurgy, dimensions, tolerances, inspection criteria, repair limits, or performance characteristics.
- a Delta™ product, Delta™-certified product, Delta™-equivalent product, or manufactured/approved by Grant Prideco™, NOV™, or any related affiliates or subsidiaries.
Valora does not endorse descriptions such as “Delta equivalent,” “Delta-like,” “Delta style,” “Delta-type,” “interchangeable with Delta,” or any similar wording implying equivalence, identity, endorsement, or origin. Compatibility does not mean equivalence, and Valora explicitly disclaims any such interpretation as a connection may make up to another connection while remaining different in design and characteristics.
Third-party statements are not Valora statements
Valora has ongoing agreements with DLC™ Licensees and Partner entities to ensure appropriate wording is used to market and sell DLC™ products and services. Valora also makes reasonable efforts to reduce marketplace confusion by respectfully asking unaffiliated customers, vendors, distributors, and other third-parties to avoid “equivalent/like/type” descriptions, and by referring them to this public statement. However, third-party listings, quotes, advertisements, emails, etc. remain the responsibility of the third-party, and should not be attributed to Valora.
